Director Statement

Candice faces her own death. An existential confrontation with finitude, also for german writer Wolfgang Herrndorf. After being diagnosed with a brain tumor, he wrote the cult novel Tschick in a short time before ending his life on his own terms. No matter which path out of life a person in such a situation chooses, the value of every second weighs heavily. Coming to terms with finitude in the form of Candice is vital especially for Friedemann, the son of a suicide victim. But when it comes to suicides in the family, there are often major difficulties to communicate. Repression, silence and the desire to escape the pain of loss threaten to consume Friedemann. They keep him from realizing the value of the last moments that remain for him and Candice together. The stirring story of the two is not meant to provide ready answers, but to inspire intimate questions. About loss, vulnerability, finitude. And about what makes our lives truly worth living.
