After being kicked out by his father, a drifting young gay man moves into an Airbnb with an eccentric, older, lonely woman. Over one unexpected week, their unlikely bond forces them both into a whirlwind of comedy and drama to confront intimacy, survival, and the courage to start again.
Written and directed by Alex Wyse, the talented filmmaker behind sassy LGBTQ festival darling SUMMONING SYLVIA that became an overnight cult hit, ACTUAL NOBODIES is a wonderfully hilarious comedy drama starring the incomparable Didi Conn (GREASE) and young heartthrob Austin McKenzie (WHEN WE RISE).

Alex Wyse is the writer/director of the feature films ACTUAL NOBODIES and SUMMONING SYLVIAa. Additional writing and/or directing credits include the Emmy-nominated digital series INDOOR BOYS, as well as the Off-Broadway shows CELLINO V. BARNES and A COMMERCIAL JINGLE for Regina Comet. As an actor, his Broadway credits include GOOD NIGHT, OSCAR, WAITRESS and SPRING AWAKENING, with television appearances including THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL, ELSBETH, THE OTHER TWO, MASTERS OF SEX and IRON FIST.
Director Statement
The experience of making this film has mirrored the very themes it explores: our longing for connection and community in a world that so often isolates us. In bringing people together to tell this story of two unlikely friends who find their way toward each other and themselves, we got to do exactly the same. We hope the film makes you laugh, cry, and feel nostalgic.

Didi Conn
is best known for her breakthrough role as Frenchy in 1978's musical sensation GREASE, with further credits including BENSON, SHINING TIME STATION, FRIDA, GREASE 2, ELSBETH, OVERCOMPENSATING and BEST MEDICINE.
Austin P. McKenzie
is a rising Hollywood actor, known for LGBT hit drama series WHEN WE RISE and SPEECH & DEBATE. He received a Theatre World Award for his Broadway debut as Melchior in Deaf West's SPRING AWAKENING.
Greta Quispe
is an American actress who starred in a variety of hit TV shows such as MATLOCK, NEW AMSTERDAM and DIVORCED SISTAS as well as in theatrical hits such as AMERICAN FICTION.
