Holy Meat
by Alison Kuhn
Synopsis | Cast & Crew | Technical Information
When a small-town amateur staging of the Passion of Christ spirals into something the archbishop was definitely not expecting, a sleepy Swabian village becomes an unlikely collision point for three souls equally ill-equipped for salvation: Roberto, a theatre director freshly cancelled out of Berlin's off-scene, armed with too much vision and nowhere left to aim it. Mia, a young butcher who wakes up one morning as the legal guardian of her sister, with roughly zero preparation for either role. And Father Oskar Iversen, a Danish priest who left his island parish under circumstances he would very much prefer not to discuss, now facing the one fate worse than failure: going home.
All they need is a miracle. But of course, nothing won't go as planned as a whole community descends into chaos.

Director Statement
Holy Meat is my first dark comedy. The story itself is deeply rooted in my own life. I spent my entire schooling at a monastery school in southern Germany, where in 2012 the systematic sexual abuse of students by two of the priests came to light. It would have been natural to process the thoughts triggered by this in a documentary or a dramatic format. But the decision to choose comedy seemed to me to be by far the more exciting challenge.
